This is a guide to transfer your domain and website to our services.
You can transfer your domain to our service during the order process. Transfer itself is free of charge, we only charge for the registration cost and renew the domain for another year. .fi domains are completely free (the domain is not renewed during the transfer process). To prevent illegal transfers, there are a few safety protocols we take to ensure you are the owner of the domain. Here are some information about the protocols and tips how to transfer different domains.
.fi domain: You need Registrar Transfer Key, which you can get from your old registrar. In case you don’t have a registrar, you can contact Ficora (https://www.viestintavirasto.fi/en/fidomain.html)
com, .net, .info and .org -domains: Before you transfer a domain to us, you need to ask your old registrar to unlock the domain and send you the Transfer Key (EPP code).
Also notice that:
- domain should be active and it doesn’t expire in the next 60 days
- domain has been registered more than 60 days ago and it hasn’t been transferred in 60 days.
After you have placed the Transfer Order, the Administrative Contact for the domain name will receive an e-mail from Ispapi for the Transfer Authorization process, which needs to be approved within 5 days.
.eu domain: You need a Transfer Key (EPP code), which you can get from your old registrar.
Moving your website to Hostingpalvelu.fi/Hostingservice.fi
After the order is done, we will open the web hosting package and send you your login information via email.
You can use FTP, SFTP or our control panel to transfer your site.
Good and a free to use FTP program is FileZilla, which you can download from http://filezilla-project.org/. We recommend using SFTP. Login information and port numbers are in the email you get from us after ordering.
With our file manager, it is quick and easy to transfer single files, but if you need to move multiple files it is recommended to use a 3rd party FTP program or compress the files before uploading them on the server. If your old hosting provider supports it, you can also compress your files there and unzip (uncompress) them to our server.
Moving FrontPage, it’s recommended to use either FTP transfer or WebDav.
You need to download your emails from your old hosting provider, if you want to be able to read them after changing providers. You can do this for example using POP3-protocol, which downloads and deletes mails from the mail server. IMAP protocol is not downloading the mails, it is simply just showing them. With IMAP and your chosen email client you can usually transfer emails between two servers using drag and drop.
When you create your email accounts in our control panel before transferring the domain, there won’t be any downtime in your mail. You can create email accounts in our control panel (you get the login information after ordering).
We are happy to help if you have any questions/concerns about the transfer process. You can contact us at email@example.com.
